Stress-based structural topology optimization for design-dependent self-weight loads problems using the BESO method

This article aims to propose an approach the stress-based topology optimization of continuous elastic bi-dimensional structures subjected design-dependent self-weight loads using Bi-directional Evolutionary Structural Optimization (BESO) method. Topology is developed through minimization P-norm von Mises stress while satisfying a volume constraint. To implement algorithm, consistent sensitivity analysis including has been by adjoint A series tests performed explore and validate method three numerical examples: L-bracket; doubly supported beam with one pre-existing crack notch; cantilever beam. Comparison between traditional compliance analyses, loads, shows that effective way reduce maximum stress.
